Juggling Act

Jul 05

To all the working moms out there, I have something to say.

BRAVO. BRA-freakin-VO.

BRAVO because I don’t know how you are sane, assuming that you are.

BRAVO because whether you work 60 hours a week or 10, you feel like you are constantly being pulled in a million directions.

BRAVO because somehow you have figured out how to balance what feels like a dozen plates on a toothpick while riding a unicycle on a gravel road.

BRAVO because it takes a massive toll to constantly feel like you are letting at least one person down at all times, if not more.

BRAVO because this shit is hard.

And BRAVO to all of you who tell the truth about how hard it is and for sharing how you do it. Because I am all ears.

Your comment “it takes a massive toll to constantly feel like you are letting at least one person down at all times, if not more” is SPOT ON.  Every day you feel like you should be somewhere else doing something else for someone else.   I’ve worked full time for most of my mothering years and it never gets any easier, but it’s one of those things that you do what you gotta do.  For me it’s not a case of I’m working because I love my career or it fulfills me, but there is no other option.  So you make the most of it – pray that your kids realize someday that it wasn’t a choice, that you were doing it for them, and they respect you and learn from your work ethic.

Right on Sandra :)   I feel the exact same way…it is hard!
