I’ve taken a break because A) it was Christmas/New Year’s and I had enough crap to keep me busy, B) both kids have been sick, which is super fun and C) Paul and I have been hard at work redesigning this site for your viewing pleasure. I was going to wait until we were 100% done with it, but god knows when that will happen, so here you go. Ta-daa! The new site!
Stop clapping now. You are embarrassing me.
Now that it’s 2012 is here, I’m ready to get started on my goals for the year. I’m not making resolutions because even I’m not that cliche. Instead, I’m going to step up some of the things I’ve been doing in 2011 and document it here. I want to share my experiences, get tips from my readers and friends, and hopefully reach all my goals by this time next year.
So let’s get started.
I plan on going into more detail about things soon as we roll out more changes to the site, but for now, here’s a glance at what to expect from Domestic Disturbia, and yours truly, in 2012:
- The Skinny: My goal for 2012 is to achieve a 100lb weight loss. I’m well on my way already, having already achieved a 40lb weight loss last year. I’m going to document my struggles, my achievements, meals that are yum, the highs, the lows, the good, the bad and the ugly.
- Cheap Tricks: I’m trying super hard to get into couponing and saving money. I am never going to be an “extreme couponer,” mainly because I do not care to have 600 boxes of tampons in my house. Can you imagine what two boys could do with that many tampons? Actually, we could make kick-ass rockets out of them… *remind me to stock up on tampon coupons… So while I am not looking to get $300 worth of groceries for $.15, I’d like to save a lot more than I currently am. My goal for now, which may change, is to not spend more than $100 a week at the store, and to only go to Target once a month. We’ll see if any of that is possible.
- I Love This. You Should, Too: This is where I’m going to share things that I’m into. Who doesn’t love that? Whether it’s the book that’s keeping me up all night, the product I’m considering selling a child for, or a toy that has kept one of my kids occupied for more than 10 seconds, I’m going to share the love and hope you will do the same with your must-haves. This is also a way to make my life better by surrounding myself with things that are awesome instead of things that suck.
- Other goals: I want to take my writing to the next level. I want to up my readership. I want to challenge myself to be a better person, better mom, better wife and better writer. I know it’s hard to believe that there’s THAT much room for improvement, but there is.
So I’m putting myself out there even more than before. Things won’t always be pretty, it won’t be all fun and games, but it should be an adventure.
